These past few months held no shortage of kick-ass action films. Like many people throughout the world, we headed to theatres to see Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars tale and luxuriate in the movies’ charismatic heroes. Though we mainly enjoyed my watching experience we left having a familiar sadness that, all over again, there clearly was no one on-screen whom appeared to be me personally.
These latest instalments, practically devoid of Asian representation, are simply a few examples that highlight the rarity of Asian actors regarding the silver screen, particularly in popular action movies. We now have never ever been the heroes in these tales — but after #OscarsSoWhite therefore the subsequent talk of variety in cinema, it might appear that Hollywood audiences are demanding more addition and representation that is nuanced.
